Apprentice S4auce’s Speech

Greetings. I would like to thank everyone for coming here to attend this event.

I have spent a long time in LAB, and a long time in Scholars. This is, in fact, the furthest I have ever managed to come in my various times within this community. In the time that I have spent in Scholars, I have been faced with many tasks, trials and questions pertaining to the philosophies of our Brotherhood. As a person spends their life constantly challenging themselves, they grow to realise the true meaning of things.

The thing that has carried me through my time here in LAB is the friends I have made here. I know that sounds corny, but it is true. Without the help, care and guidance of others, I would not have found the motivation to come this far. This has led me to delve into my favourite tenet for the purpose of this Synchronisation: Tenet III.

So, what does this tenet mean? It means never to place the Brotherhood, or any of its members, in any form of jeopardy. It means being trustworthy, having integrity, not leaking confidential information, and not turning our hands against our fellow Brothers and Sisters. These are only a few of the matters to which this tenet pertains.

Its importance is not found only in its basic meaning, but also in the way it correlates with our other tenets. I believe its purpose is to preserve integrity and loyalty to the Brotherhood while also reinforcing the meanings of the rest of our code.

For example, if we violate Tenet I and kill innocents, we ruin our image before the world and act directly against the foundations of our cause. That is placing the Brotherhood in jeopardy. If we violate Tenet II, we create the image that we are sloppy and impatient, and make ourselves appear much like the savages we intend to dispatch. That too is placing the Brotherhood in jeopardy.

With this tenet, our duty is sealed, and we do not break the trust we hold with one another. It reinforces the idea that we are, in many ways, a family, and that we should never, under any circumstance, break that bond.

Tenet III is one of the most sacred parts of our codex. It binds us together as an organisation, strengthens the meanings of the other tenets, and ties us together not merely as partners, but as brothers. To be a Brotherhood is to never sacrifice the secrets of our work, and to never place one another in jeopardy.

Yet I believe this tenet carries an even deeper meaning. To never compromise the Brotherhood means not only protecting our secrets, but also isolating traitors and keeping one another safe. It ensures that those within the Brotherhood remain properly motivated and truly passionate in their purpose.

Indeed, it is because of my friends that I have remained fuelled and passionate. Everyone here, and the study of this tenet, has given me the reason to keep going. Without this tenet, our Brotherhood would surely fall to pieces.

Thank you for listening.
